Privacy Policy

 

  1. GIC Connect (the “Site”) is a password-protected, secure site which enables communication between GIC and GIC alumni who are members of the Site. This Privacy Policy is effective from 7 January 2009.
Site-collected information

  1. In common with most other websites, the Site automatically logs certain information about every request made of it. This information is for system administration, for bug fixing, and for producing usage statistics. The logged information may be kept indefinitely. This site may use web “cookies” as part of user authentication (login) and to store information needed by other facilities.
  1. Relevant subsets of this data may be passed to computer security teams as part of investigations of computer misuse involving this Site. Data may also be passed to the Site administrators to enable investigation of problems accessing this Site or of system misconfigurations. Data may incidentally be included in information passed to contractors and computer maintenance organisations working for GIC in which case it will be covered by appropriate non-disclosure agreements. Otherwise the logged information is not passed to any third party except if required by law.
Personal Information

  1. When you register with GIC Connect, you provide us with certain personal information, such as your name, your personal email address, your telephone number, and your address. Such information is used by GIC for administrative and record-keeping purposes only. Certain of this information will be published in the Members Directory on the Site as specified in the GIC Connect registration form. Your submission of the registration form amounts to consent to such limited publication of your personal information. Save for information specifically identified in the GIC Connect registration form, We will not disclose any of your other personal information to any third party without your prior consent unless we are required by law to do so.
  1. We aim to keep information about you as accurate as possible. If you would like to review or change the details you have supplied us with, you may do so at any time by accessing the “My Profile” page on the Site and using the “Change Personal Details” function.
  1. Upon successful registration, you will receive a “gicalum.com.sg” email address. This email address may be published on GIC’s internal network to which current GIC staff have access. GIC may contact you either via your “gicalum.com.sg” email address or your personal email address and all emails sent by GIC to your “gicalum.com.sg” address will automatically be forwarded to your personal email address unless otherwise requested.
  1. By using GIC Connect, you are consenting to have your personal data transferred to and processed in the Republic of Singapore.
User Content

  1. You post User Content (as defined in the GIC Connect Terms of Use) on the Site at your own risk. GIC cannot control the actions of other Site users and therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that User Content you post on the Site will not be viewed by unauthorised persons. We are not responsible for any unauthorised circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Site.

 

GIC reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or delete portions of this Privacy Policy at any time without further notice.
